My favorite locations for Spring Photoshoots in Portland

I really love shooting at three main locations - Hoyt Arboretum on the West side, Powell Butte on the east side, and at your home. Of course there are other spots that I love too in the spring like Laurelhurst Park, Cooper Mountain Nature Preserve, Leach Botanical Garden, Sellwood Riverfront Park, Sauvie Island, and Jenkins Estate.

Hoyt Arboretum has so many different spots to shoot at and that’s one of the reasons it’s my favorite in the spring. I can go there with lots of different clients and all their photos will look different. It’s a museum of trees so course in the spring all these trees are popping off! Beautiful pink flowers and lush grass. I love the smell of the fresh flowers and the spring air, the later sunsets and the views from the top. I would do every shoot here if I could.

To capture the peak of spring blooms, scheduling your family photo session at Hoyt Arboretum between mid April and late May is ideal. During this time you will find magnolias, cherry blossoms, and many other flowering trees. They will make for a colorful and vibrant backdrop.
